About Las Vegas Activities

An independent guide to the Entertainment Capital of the World — the Strip, Downtown, the desert beyond, and everything worth your time in between.

LAS VEGASABOUT · NV

Las Vegas Activities is an independent visitor guide to Las Vegas, Nevada. We are not a casino, a resort, a tour operator or an official tourism authority — we are travel writers who love this strange, dazzling city in the Mojave and want to help you make the most of a few days here, whatever your budget and whatever you are into.

It’s written like a savvy friend who lives nearby and gets asked the same questions every week. Where should we stay? Which show is actually worth it? Where do locals eat away from the Strip? Is the Grand Canyon doable in a day? We answer all of that across our things to do, shows, eat, stay, day-trip and plan sections — no breathless hype, no shouting, just clear, honest steers from people who have spent real time on both ends of Las Vegas Boulevard.

What you'll find here

How the site is organized

How we choose

A simple rule: we only point you toward things we'd send a friend to.

Las Vegas is built to separate visitors from their money, and a lot of "best of" lists online are really just lists of who paid to be on them. We work differently. Nobody buys a recommendation here. When we call out a show, a restaurant, a hotel or a tour, it's because we think it earns its place — and when something is overpriced, overhyped or simply not for everyone, we say so.

We try to keep the free wins front and center, too, because some of the best of Las Vegas costs nothing: the Bellagio fountains and conservatory, the lights of Fremont Street, the desert at golden hour. And because this town changes constantly — shows open and close, residencies come and go, resorts rebrand — we'd always rather give you a reliable general steer and tell you how to confirm the specifics than print something precise that's wrong by the time you arrive. When in doubt, check the venue or resort directly before you commit.

How we keep the lights on: Las Vegas Activities is free to read. Some links to hotels, tickets and tours are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you book through them — at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we recommend or where something lands on the page. We'd point you to the same places either way.

How to use this guide

A quick way to turn the whole site into one good trip.

  1. Start at Plan Your Trip to sort the basics — when to come, where to base yourself, and how to get around.
  2. Browse Things to Do and bookmark a mix of one or two paid headliners and a handful of free wins.
  3. Check Shows early and confirm the current lineup for your dates, since the good seats and the big names sell out.
  4. Pencil in one day trip — even a half-day at Red Rock or Hoover Dam resets the whole pace of a Vegas weekend.
  5. Spot something off, or have a place we should know about? Tell us on the contact page — readers keep this guide honest.
Good to know

Common questions

Is Las Vegas Activities an official tourism site?

No. We're an independent visitor guide written by travel writers, with no affiliation to any casino, resort, tour company or official tourism authority. That independence is the point — it lets us be honest about what's worth your time and what's overhyped.

How do you decide what to recommend?

We only recommend places and experiences we'd send a friend to. No business can pay to be featured or to move up the page, and we make a point of flagging the free wins as well as the splurges. When something doesn't live up to the hype, we say so.

Do you make money from this site?

Las Vegas Activities is free to read. Some of our links to hotels, tickets and tours are affiliate links, so we may earn a small commission if you book through them, at no extra cost to you. It never affects our recommendations or how we rank anything.

How is the site organized?

By what you feel like doing: things to do, shows, where to eat, where to stay, day trips into the desert, and a plan-your-trip section for logistics like timing, getting around and itineraries. If you're starting from scratch, the plan hub is the best entry point.

Why don't you list exact show times or prices?

Las Vegas changes fast — shows and residencies open, close and move venues constantly, and room rates plus resort fees shift all the time. Rather than print specifics that may be wrong by the time you arrive, we give reliable general guidance and tell you to confirm dates, prices and availability directly with the venue or resort.

How can I get in touch or suggest a correction?

Head to our contact page. We welcome questions, corrections and tips on great spots we may have missed — reader feedback is a big part of how we keep the guide accurate and current.
